Community Revitalization

Since 1996, Charles City’s Community Revitalization program has been energizing and revitalizing our city with its overall goal to make America’s Hometown a great place to live, work and play. The organization draws from Charles City’s generous pool of volunteers, utilizing the four-point approach of its parent program Main Street Iowa and the National Trust Main Street.

Community Revitalization offers educational opportunities and financial incentives for businesses in the Downtown District and sponsors a variety of community events intended to enhance the quality of life and bring the residents of Charles City together. Some events include: The Great Chili Cook-off, home and garden tours, Party in the Park, SpookWalk, Brewfest and the Holiday Lighted Parade. A committee of dedicated volunteers also led the way to the creation Charles City’s recreational trail system and continues to provide recreational opportunities for the community.
